Pursesnatchers - Proof of Concept (Jeremy Bastard Remix)

Ive known Doug Marvin and been a fan of his songwriting since the early 2000s, so this project was just an absolute pleasure for me.

Although it is drastically different from the original, the general chord progression of the song is intact, the vibraphone which Doug played is featured prominently, and the vocals were left largely unchanged (which is super weird for me, because I always fuck heavily with vocals). In this instance however, It felt appropriate to me and like it was what the remix wanted.

After a few emails back and forth, we ultimately decided to include a drop in the remix, this was not a decision which either of us made lightly, but ultimately it became clear to us that it was 2020, there are no rules, there is no God, the rule of the land is utter chaos, and sometimes otherwise beautiful indie pop songs get an electro/new wave dance floor remix with punchy 909 kicks and a drop which leaves the listener no choice but to get up and dance, no matter how inappropriate it may or not be when they hear it.

We knew all of this, and we did it anyway.

This is a free / pay what you will download on bandcamp, and we want you to download it, listen to it, and play it for your friends. if you can chip in a little, that would be super cool since we are both music industry professionals who have been gutted by 2020. However, if you’re in the same boat as us, we fully get that too and we just want you to download this for free and have a fun time dancing to it.
